The veterans are transported to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans WWII survivors, along with other veterans who may be terminally ill. The Mississippi veterans made national headlines as they crossed barriers to visit the closed WWII memorial during the government shutdown.
