The ageless battle cry of Seabees past and present symbolizes much more than a positive attitude it is a commitment to succeed and make a difference to the mission. And sometimes that mission is both on land and at sea. Seabee contributions to Exercise Bold Alligator 2012, the largest naval amphibious exercise in the past 10 years, is a great example of the behind-the-scenes influence Seabees have on a variety of missions, including those of the amphibious nature, as three Seabee units Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 133, Amphibious Construction Battalion (ACB) 2 and Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit (CBMU) 202 combined resources, talent and effort to empower the Navy and Marine Corps' revitalization of the full range of amphibious operations. While many Seabees were hard at work off the coast of North Carolina and Virginia, even more Bees continued to spread American goodwill in Peru and Haiti, the final stops on the Southern Partnership Station mission. Using hammers, nails and Seabee ingenuity, NMCB 23 Seabees helped build hope for people who need a hand living their own CAN DO dreams. Elsewhere in the world, Seabees continue to empower the Afghan people as they emerge from the tyrannical rule of the Taliban. Being a Seabee has many unspoken rewards. The countless handshakes from villagers who get a roof over their head, hearty gratitude from military units who can use new roads and reinforced structures to sustain their mission, and the constant flow of love and admiration from fellow Americans both at home and abroad. Still, our job is a taxing one which can take its toll physically, mentally and emotionally on even the hardest CAN DO Seabee. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, is a real threat to the safety and well-being of our Seabees and we have some useful PTSD information for you and your family here in Seabee Online. As we move into our second edition of Seabee Magazine Online, please continue to provide us with your feedback. We need to know what you think about our stories, photos, videos and even our social media interaction. Our online pilgrimage will succeed with the continued support of you, our Seabee audiences. We look forward to improving our online magazine each and every edition so that you, the best audience in the world, gets the finest, most up-to-date news, features and information. After all, CAN DO is everywhere even on the Internet.
