CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti - Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 11 transferred their mission authority to NMCB-1 on Camp Leomonnier, Djibouti Aug 11.

NMCB-11 helped continue to build the clinic in Ali Oune, a project that the NMCB-1 aims to complete. NMCB-11 also built wells for villages in the Tadjoura region of Djibouti.
We did a lot of force protection down in the range in the Ali Oune humanitarian assistance project out in Djibouti, said Lt. Cmdr. Nathan Neilitz, officer in charge, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 11. There were a lot of challenges and I had to rely on my team. A good team can work through anything and you have to keep working for them, keep communicating, and never give up. But basically just keep pushing forward, but really Seabees are some of the greatest people in the world. Im proud of what weve done.
NMCB-1 stands ready to take on the mission of Horn of Africa, finishing the clinic in Ali Oune and seeing what else they can accomplish in their six months here.
This tour has been something weve been looking forward to, something weve been preparing for, for quite a while, said Lt. Cmdr. Matthew Baird, officer in charge, NMCB-1. Theres a great mission here in the horn of Africa. Were looking forward to supporting that mission and enabling the warfighters in the area to do what they need to do.
