Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5 bested seven other teams to win the first All-Navy Captain s Cup hosted by Commander, Fleet Activities Okinawa (CFAO) on board Camp Shields, May 11.
We did take joy in taking home the trophy, but it was a great time had by all, said Cdr. Omarr Tobias, commanding officer of NMCB5. It was a great event to build camaraderie amongst all the Navy commands.

The CFAO All- Navy Captain's Cup was designed to increase morale and encourage competitiveness among Sailors by providing them with the opportunity to represent their commands.
"This is both a humbling and rewarding experience, said Lt. Cdr. David Carlson, chaplain for Fleet Activities Okinawa and coordinator for the event. There were more than 550 people here.
The competition consisted of sports such as ultimate football, volleyball, 100 meter dash, basketball and ended with a tug-o-war challenge. The event gave Sailors the opportunity to enhance physical fitness and well-being while building morale and camaraderie both on and off the field.
It was a great day, a little windy but we powered through, said Cdr. Thomas Taylor, executive officer of Fleet Activities Okinawa, during the closing remarks of the event, It was awesome to see such a large number of people come out.

With each event, teams and individuals earned points for their respective command with different point values associated with various placements. The command with the most points at the end of the day was awarded the Captain's Cup trophy.
The trophy will be on display at NMCB5 s headquarters building on Camp Shields until the next competition.
