Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal Awarded at NAVFAC Hawaii

PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (Nov. 24, 2015) Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC)Hawaii Commanding Officer Capt. Dean Tufts presents a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold Star in Lieu of Third Award) to Chief Builder (SCW) Boy Julito L. Talaro Nov. 24 at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The award is for “professional achievement while serving as Leading Chief Petty Officer for NAVFAC Hawaii and Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam from September 2012 – November 2015. Talaro’s professionalism provided the foundation for personnel development and mission success while maximizing division effectiveness. He oversaw 13 critical command programs and maintained an impressive 92% retention rate while facilitating shop integration which increased responsiveness and increased the technical skills of every Sailor. Talaro during his retirement ceremony, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Nov. 24. The award is for "professional achievement while serving as Leading Chief Petty Officer for NAVFAC Hawaii and Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam from September 2012 - November 2015." Talaro served the U.S. Navy for 20 years. His official transfer from active duty to the Fleet Reserve of the U.S. Navy will occur Dec. 31.
