NMCB 3 Change of Command

July 5, 2017 | By ggranger
From NMCB3 Cmdr. Joseph Harder relieved Cmdr. Laurie Scott as the commanding officer of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3 during a change of command ceremony while deployed to Camp Shields in Okinawa, Japan on July 1. The change of command between Harder and Scott was solidified by the passing of the battalion colors, a tradition among Naval Construction Force units. NMCB 3 is one of the first battalions commissioned at the start of World War II, the battalion s legacy stands strong in its ability to build and fight anywhere in the world as either a full battalion or as a group of autonomous detachments completing critical engineering and construction missions simultaneously.
