Morneau, commander, Naval Expeditionary Combat Command, awarded the Battle Effectiveness, or Battle E , Best of Type Award 2014 to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 4, Port Hueneme, Calif., Mar. 5. This is the battalion s third consecutive Battle E. It s a pleasure and honor to present this to you in person, said Morneau. "Winning the Battle 'E' for the third year in a row shows the entire Navy that high levels of operational readiness are attainable and maintainable." The award is presented to a command for overall readiness and its ability to carry out assigned tasks in an exemplary manner. The Battle E is only awarded to a small number of units within in the U.S. Navy, one for each type such as ships, submarines, aviation and in this case construction units. To receive the award, the command must demonstrate a high level of readiness throughout an entire year.
