Lt. Cmdr. Dean Allen, public works officer, PWD Sasebo, received the 2013 Society of American Military Engineers Moreell Medal, presented by Rear Adm. Kate Gregory, Commander, NAVFAC, during Joint Engineer Training Conference, Orlando, Fla., May 21. The medal is awarded each year for the "most outstanding contribution to military engineering through achievement in planning, design, construction, public works, administration, research or development." It is named in honor of Adm. Ben Moreell, CEC, USN, the only CEC officer ever promoted to four-star rank.
