In support of Pacific Partnership 2014, Seabees are providing their special skills on many projects in Indonesia and Timor Leste.
I think it is a great opportunity to work with our host nation and allies throughout our engagements, to work together and build relationships to accomplish our goal to help local communities, said Equipment Operator 1st Class Jared Perry, a Eau Claire, Wis., native assigned to 30th Naval Construction Regiment (NCR).
On one engineering project, Seabees from NMCB 1 began work at the Tuadale School in West Kupang, Indonesia, and welcomed Capt. Rodney Moore, commodore, 30th NCR, to the school. Earlier this month, NMCB 1 and members of the 30th NCR worked on renovations to Puskesmas (health clinic) Baun, Kupang, Indonesia.
Pacific Partnership is in its ninth iteration and is the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Asia-Pacific region. Working at the invitation of each host nation, U.S. Navy forces, non-governmental organizations and regional partners to include Australia, Chile, Japan, New Zealand and Singapore execute medical, dental, veterinary and engineering civic action programs that strengthen partnerships and deliver international humanitarian aid in times of natural disaster or crisis.
