Two Seabees attached to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 11 received their Seabee Combat Warfare specialist qualification from Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus during an official visit to Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan. Engineering Aide Constructionman Shenelle C. Stewart and Yeoman 2nd Class Deron M. Bennett both earned the qualification and were pinned by the highest ranking civilian official in the U.S. Department of the Navy.
NMCB 11 is deployed to Afghanistan to conduct general, mobility, survivability engineering operations, defensive operations, Afghan National Army partnering and detachment of units in combined/joint operations area - Afghanistan in order to enable the neutralization of the insurgency and support improved governance and stability operations.
