180521-N-XK887-148 PALAWAN, Philippines (May 21, 2018) Construction Electrician 3rd Class Ericka Shaw and Builder Constructionman Apprentice Khadjiah Boothe, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, remove formwork after the concrete has cured. Formwork is kept on vertical structures for several days to ensure the concrete has gathered the compressive strength necessary to support overhead loads. NMCB 5 is forward deployed to execute construction, humanitarian and foreign assistance, and theater security cooperation support of United States Pacific Command.
