(May 12, 2018) Steel Worker Construction Apprentice Bailey Oelke from Bluffs, Ill., assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3 welds several posts together to construct a steel gate as part of a construction project for the field training exercise (FTX). The battalion is conducting Operation Bearing Duel FTX that prepares and tests the battalion’s ability to enter hostile location, build assigned construction projects and defend against enemy attacks using realistic scenarios while being evaluated by Naval Construction Group 1.
