Seabees Complete “Fighting Bee” at 65th Annual Sapporo Snow Festival

BUC Billy Harger (left) and UTCN Ariel Hogue, NAVFAC Far East Detachment Misawa, display a flag emblazoned with the U.S. Navy Seabees’ “Fighting Bee” design, Feb. 3.  Both Sailors are members of the 2014 Navy Misawa Snow Team, Hokkaido, Japan, taking part in the 65th Annual Sapporo Snow Festival.  The team sculpted a frosty, 3-D version of the “Fighting Bee.”  This is the 31st year that Naval Air Facility Misawa and its tenant commands have sent a delegation of Sailors to Sapporo to create a sculpture, and to serve as Navy goodwill ambassadors.

UTCN Ariel Hogue, who originally hails from Pensacola, Fla., carefully chips away at a snow sculpture she is helping construct, Feb. 1, 2014.  Hogue is a member of the Navy Misawa Snow Sculpture Team, which is in Hokkaido, Japan taking part in the 65th Annual Sapporo Snow Festival.  The team is sculpting a frosty, 3-D version of the U.S. Navy Seabee’s “Fighting Bee” logo.
