210803-N-MO469-1030 SANTA RITA, Guam (Aug. 3, 2021) Seabees assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 11 Det. Guam, Marines assigned to III MEF, and aircrew assigned to HSC-25 deplane after landing a MH-60S on a prototype landing pad constructed by CTU 75.5.3. The landing pad was constructed while supporting III MEF using a biocement application system developed by bioMASON with support from Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The biocement application system is designed to be used in forward operating positions on native, non-engineered surfaces to strengthen soil, promote erosion control, and increase dust abatement enhancing expeditionary advanced base operations through the use of expeditionary landing zones. NMCB 11 Det. Guam is forward-deployed to execute construction, humanitarian assistance, theater security cooperation, and support Major Combat Operations in the U.S. 7th Fleet areas of operation.
