NMCB 5 Returns from Pacific

130719-N-SD120-001 OKINAWA, Japan (August 7, 2013) Engineering Aide 2nd Class Randy Stump passes a sea bag to Steelworker 3rd Class Brandon Fletcher while Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5 prepares to redeploy their advanced party back to Port Hueneme, Calif. While deployed NMCB 5 was headquartered on Camp Shields in Okinawa, Japan and had Seabees deployed to 20 different locations throughout 13 countries in the Pacific. The battalion sent Seabees to participate in five multinational exercise including four Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) sites, two Pacific Partnership 2013 locations, Balikatan in the Philippines, Cobra Gold in the Thailand, and an Association of South East Asian Nations exercise in Brunei. After an eight month deployment, NMCB 5 is turning over all of their missions in the U.S. Pacific Command to NMCB 3, also homeported out of Port Hueneme.
